Decklocks are a critical part of the system
for securing and manoeuvring helicopters during operation from
smaller ships such as Frigates or Coast Guard Cutters. The Decklock
is an active device, mounted on the helicopter, which secures
the aircraft to the passive Grid fixed into the ships flight deck.
This approach gives the pilot control during landing and take-off
and allows free access all round the aircraft for deck handling
or replenishment of stores. The Decklock can be integrated into
the aircraft systems to provide a constant securing load without
external power supplies and semi-automatic operation on landing.
All electric versions are being developed for VTUAV (Vertical
Take-off Unmanned Air Vehicle) operation.
